So, you’ve decided to visit Gatlinburg. We are happy to be the first Gatlinburg cabins company to welcome you to our town and the surrounding area, full of nature and entertainment! There are things to do for nearly anyone, but being locals, we can tell you which are the most popular so you can be sure to see the sights you want while you visit.
Wildwater Rafting
Many individuals and families come to Gatlinburg to become one with nature, and rafting can be an exciting way to do that. If you are staying in a mountain chalet here at Ski Mountain, we suggest you check out Wildwater Rafting. Of course, they offer many different rafting experiences, including tours. However, they also provide the experience of zip lining, enjoying a canopy tour, and even taking a Jeep through the backcountry of Tennessee.
Aerial Tramway
Even if you only visit our Gatlinburg cabins once, you have to take a ride on the aerial tramway. This attraction is one of the largest aerial tramways anywhere in the United States. The tramway departs from right in downtown Gatlinburg, allowing you an experience on a cable car that takes you way up high then heads a couple of miles away to the nearby amusement park and ski area. All ages are welcome to ride the tramway, and the two cars can hold up to 120 people each.
Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park & Ski Area
After you’ve taken the exhilarating ride away from downtown, you can take in the sights at Ober Gatlinburg. There are rides and activities for all ages, including a carousel, kiddie land, mini golf, arcade games, mazes, wildlife encounters and even more. There are also water slides if you’re feeling a bit warm and ice skating inside of an enclosed mall. The kids will stay busy with rides, while the adults can enjoy the many shops. We also suggest grabbing lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants in the area, like the Loft Lounge or Seasons of Ober Restaurant.
Ghost Walk of Gatlinburg
For those who enjoy a touch of the occult, you should check out the Ghost Walk of Gatlinburg. It is located near our Gatlinburg cabins, so you can partake any night you would like. You’ll experience a cemetery from 1830 and hear stories about many haunted buildings downtown. You can also see photos taken of paranormal activity along the tour route. Enjoy a leisurely stroll and some ghost stories to keep with you for the rest of your life.
Ripley’s Guinness Book of World Records Museum
Nearly everyone has heard of Ripley’s Believe It or Not, as well as the Guinness Book of World Records, and Gatlinburg has a museum that showcases many of these world records. You will see displays featuring videos, games, and trivia about all sorts of things – from sports to animals, to celebrities, and even food. There is also memorabilia from the likes of Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and Michael Jackson.
